What Is A Boudoir Session?
Boudoir sessions are tasteful photos that hint at sexiness. Every person has their own idea of what sexy is as well as what they are comfortable with. These sessions are cute, fun, sexy, flirty and even a bit sensual all the while maintaining your comfort level.

Hair & Make-up
Many ladies are good at doing their own hair and make-up but there are plenty of options available. Salons and department store make-up counters are good resources and some photographers have hair and make-up artists who they work with on a regular basis. Ask your photographer if they have someone they recommend. Either way be sure to let whoever you hire know that you’re having a photo shoot done as your make-up will need to be a bit darker than you normally wear it.

Body Image & Weight
Most women don’t have bodies like a super model but that doesn’t mean that we can’t have gorgeous, sexy photos as well. A good photographer will know just how to highlight your assets best while disguising the parts of you that you’re self conscious about. Just remember… your significant other loves you just the way you are.

Pick A Theme
Fashion inspired – Your sexiest outfits. Career inspired – Business Suits, Police Uniforms, Firefighter Turnouts, Doctor Coats, Construction Belts, etc…

40s Pinup is back in style and is oh so sexy. Several retailers on the web carry pinup inspired clothing.

Clothing Choices
Bring clothing that you feel sexy and beautiful in. Bras, panties, corsets, teddies, stockings, tank tops, booty shorts, sports jerseys & men’s business shirts are all popular. Don’t forget to bring accessories for each of your outfits as well as your sexiest shoes.

Modesty & Nudity
You don’t have to take your clothes off to be sexy. Clothed, partially clothed, hinted nudity and fully nude can all be sexy. Let your photographer know what you’re comfortable showing in your photos and trust them to keep the parts you want hidden to stay that way. Some photographers offer fine art nudes while others do not. Be sure to ask when booking your session.

Retouching
Many photographers include retouching with their portrait prints and albums but be sure to ask how much is included with your session. I do very little retouching on my portraits due to the way I photograph my clients however that varies from photographer to photographer.

Privacy
Privacy is a concern due to the intimate nature of boudoir sessions. All boudoir images are kept in strict confidence and no images will be shown without permission from the client in writing. We use only professional labs and album companies that safeguard the privacy of our client’s images. Make sure your photographer has a similar policy.

Couples sessions
Some photographers (but not all) offer couples sessions. These sessions are romantic, sensual, playful, fun and always tasteful. Typically these sessions show you and your significant other cuddling, jumping on the bed and chasing each other around the room like playful kids in addition to photos of each of you individually. I let my clients who are interested in this type of session know the perfect time to do it is when they plan a weekend ‘away’ at a local hotel. No dishes to be done, no dinner to be made, no kids or pets needing attention – just the two of you away from all of life’s distractions for a photo session and a weekend of fun.

Where to do your session
Your session can be done at your photographer’s studio, your home, a local hotel, bed and breakfast and even outside in a private or secluded area.
Be sure to discuss your options with your photographer.

Tips for the morning of your session
Drink lots of water and wear loose fitting clothing. Avoid tight fitting undergarments as they are the most likely to leave elastic pressure lines on your skin.

Tips for after your session
Getting into and holding some of the most flattering poses can give you a surprise work-out so don’t be surprised if you’re a little sore that evening or the morning after. Be sure to drink lots of water and take a little ibuprofen if needed.

Designer Secrets to a Sexy Bedroom

A few months ago we posted some of the most alluring and sexy bedroom styles for your boudoir inspiration. Today we want to share more tips from professional designers courtesy from Shelter Pop.

Bedding to Spend All Day In
Crisp white sheets in thread counts ranging from 450 to 650 create the sexiest tactile experience in terms of bedding. Keep the sheets plain; go no fancier than a top sheet with embroidery. And don't go overboard with too many pillows.

"Even if you're watching your wallet, the place to spend the money is the bedding." - Cathy Hobbs, founder of Aphereä

"People will over-pillow the bed," warns designer Eric Cohler, of Eric Cohler Design Inc. It's not sexy to have a romantic interlude put on pause while all the pillows are removed.

"For a two-person bed, you need at most two Euro-sham-size pillows (placed against the headboard), and four sleeping pillows." - Designer Rebecca Cole, Rebecca Cole Design

Seduction Must-Have: Pure linen sheets



Flooring That Makes You Weak in the Knees
Wall-to-wall carpeting, in either 100% wool, or a wool-silk blend, will give the most sumptuous landing to your feet-or to your entire body if the mood strikes.

"For anything but a beach house-where wood floors are fine-you should have wall-to-wall carpeting in the bedroom. - Harry Heissmann, Senior Designer, Albert Hadley Inc.

"A wool rug with silk in it will create a beautiful shimmering effect in candlelight." -Designer Amy Lau.

Seduction Must-Have: Sheepskin area rug under a chaise lounge



Window Treatments to Shut Out the World
For total relaxation-essential to romance-a bedroom should shut out the outside world, by way of blackout curtains or layered window treatments. A three-fold layering such as wooden blinds, topped by sheers, topped by floor-to-ceiling draperies will create the most soothing effect.

"I love the elegance of a whole wall of drapery, ceiling to floor." -Designer Rebecca Cole

"Blackout curtains are a must in the bedroom so you can stay in bed as long as you want." -Designer Eric Cohler.

Seduction Must-Have: Silk or matte velvet drapery fabrics



Come-Hither Lighting
Choose lighting from a mix of sources, including table lamps next to the bed, wall sconces, or chandeliers over a seating area (never have lighting directly over the bed-it makes a naked body look ghastly).

"The allure of the bedroom is in the lighting." -Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz.

"Use gold paper on the inside of a semi-opaque or opaque lacquered paper lampshade, and it counteracts the unflattering glow of a compact fluorescent." -Harry Heissmann, senior designer, Albert Hadley Inc.

Seduction Must-Have: Dimmers on all lights in the bedroom



Color that Flatters
To create a womb-type nest, paint the walls a rich color, then keep everything else in the room light and neutral. Body-flattering choices for bedroom wall color include: pale hues of rose, blue, lavender or gray. Avoid green or yellow: No one looks good in a green reflection; yellow can make skin appear jaundiced.

"Go with your favorite color because a bedroom should have the things you love." -Cathy Hobbs, of Aphereä Design (whose own bedroom has burnt-orange walls)

"A wallpaper with depth and dimension can add color and spice to the bedroom." - Designer Amy Lau

Final Touches to Set the Mood

Music: Nothing says romance like the right kind of music, so create a playlist just for the bedroom. Says designer Robert Verdi: "Don't use your everyday playlist. And make sure it's a playlist that can go on for hours-there's nothing worse than having the music stop before you want it to."

Candles: A scented candle appeals to the sense of smell, which is key to intimacy and arousal. Choose a long-burning candle, and try different scents-from jasmine to pepper-to find what you like.

Serenity: "The bedroom should be a soothing place for a couple," says designer Eric Cohler. "No cell phones, no Blackberry, no TV, no computer."

The 'Transformers' star has signed on to be the new face and body of Emporio Armani Underwear and Armani Jeans campaigns, "The Insider" confirms. The actress was photographed this past July alongside Armani at the Giorgio Armani Privé show.

Fox's Armani ads will begin running in worldwide in January. The actress succeeds Victoria Beckham, who stripped down for an Armani underwear campaign this past year.
