Iced Tea + Lingerie

How are you surviving the heat wave? Hellish waves of heat have descended upon the east coast and midwest this week and the southern part of the US is predicted to have days and days of 100 degree weather. This is a perfect time to give your padded bras, shapewear and restrictive lingerie a rest and break out your comfortable and cool stuff. You'll feel gorgeous and sweat less, which makes any heat wave easier to endure. I recommend that you combine this lingerie prescription with a relaxing glass of mint iced tea. I've included my go to summer recipe, which is a mix of classic Southern style iced tea and strong East Coast style iced drinks. I make this all summer because it's slightly sweet,  fairly healthy and perfectly refreshing.

Holly's Faux Southern Style Iced Tea Recipe:

2 tablespoons strong basic black tea (I use Turkish tea from the local neighborhood grocery)
Small handful of fresh mint leaves
2 tablespoons sugar
2 quarts of water

Brew tea according to instructions with mint leaves in one quart of water. Mix in sugar and stir well. Add second quart of cold water and pour into your favorite pitcher. Chill until cool in the fridge, or add ice to speed up the process.

Go ahead and relax your chilled tea, any of the following lingerie pieces and your favorite book or magazine.

I love this LOLA HAZE Deco Chemise (1) because of the girly yet muted color combinations and how the mesh combines with the silk charmeuse. Both fabrics will help you stay cool and you can wear this under your favorite dress or by itself for lounging around the house. It's a great all around piece and perfect for this difficult weather.

If you're a fan of a more contemporary lingerie, this Priscilla Jade Georgette Babydoll (4) is fun and right on trend with the orange accents. It's also incredibly comfortable and the charmeuse fabric will keep you cool.

This Zinke Dashboard Babydoll and Ruched Panty Set (3) in Lake reminds me of cool ocean breezes. It's a great lounge set but can also work with a cami under it if you want to wear it out of the house.

Everyone needs a silk robe and this Beautiful Bottoms Dove Short Silk Robe (5) is great for hot weather. It's light and soft and looks equally gorgeous at home or by the pool. The dove pattern is subtle and beautiful. I'm a huge fan of grey colors when they're used well!

If you do have to leave the house, this MC Lounge Stretch Silk Top (2) will keep you cool and looking fashionable. It's perfect with jeans and some heels or over a white skirt. It also hand washes well and dries in a flash, so it's always ready when you need to slip something on quickly.
